As the joining date approached it dawned on me that I had to find a place to stay for 3 months in Pune..., alone. That’s when you have people helping you out... a cousin’s acquaintance’s uncle’s someone has a house in Pune, a neighbour’s sister-in-law has a house in central Pune, a someone’s someone has a flat somewhere etc... Obviously none of them was feasible, one as too far off, other was not free, blah blah.
Finally got a place which was like 5 mins from the office. I was told that it was an “out house”. That turned out to be too generous a description for the place.
I had a last resort though, Anshu’s bro’s house. Had been there last new year’s. so I got his house keys as backup or at least till I could find another place.
Finally after a lot of alcohol induced farewell hugs and we-all-miss-yous, the day arrived.

Got down at Karve road. My office was frigging 5 mins from the “out house”. The SNDT girls college was 3 mins from there. What more could you ask for?!?!
But when I got to the actual place turns out it was more like a godown. No light, no fan, hell, not even an attached bathroom and a threat of snakes and other wild creatures getting into the room at night.
That’s when Anshu’s bros home came to my rescue. It was a bit far from office, no... very far..., but was much better than hunting for a home for 3 months. Picked up my stuff and off we went to Ghorpadi...
What?
Ghorpadi is another tale... will write about it some other lazy afternoon in office when I am done with work; documentations, 2 line code changes and more documentations for the earlier documents.
